Matthew couldn't forget what he had seen and heard that day as they passed Calvary. "Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're doing," Jesus had said. Later, Jesus died. Matthew's brother had seen where they buried Jesus, and told him how they had put a big stone in front of the door.

All that night, the next day, and even the next night, Matthew wondered how it all could have happened so quickly. Many people around Jerusalem had talked about how dark it had been, almost like night, when Jesus had died.

The next morning when Matthew got up, people were still talking about Jesus; only now they were saying different things. Things like, angels standing by the tomb, the stone rolled away, and the tomb being open.

Matthew had to know if it was really true. He ran as fast as he could to where the tomb was. "What happened? Was it really true?" he asked a man standing there.

"Early this morning, while it was still dark, three women came to the tomb to put spices on Jesus' body," the man said. "When they got here, the stone was rolled away, and an angel said to them, 'Why are you here? A tomb is for dead people. Jesus is alive! Go tell His disciples.' Later some of His disciples did come and said that Jesus had even talked to one of the women. Yes, young man, Jesus is alive."

"He IS alive," Matthew said right out loud. "He did come back to life, just as He said He would. Jesus IS the Son of God. JESUS IS ALIVE!"

Jesus is still alive today and wants to come and live in your heart. All you need to do is ask Him to come in and obey Him, and He will.
