A Man of God Goes Home

Many are they that preach the word of God. Few are they that live His word. Such is our brother, Leamon Stewart.

Brother Leamon passed away on October 20, 1996, after a painful struggle with cancer. Our love, compassion and prayers go out to our dear Sister Betty, their children and their grandchildren. Leamons's life is a victory in Jesus, but his death is a loss for us who know and love him.

Our prayers are also for the Church of Christ Prison Ministry at the Missouri Eastern Correctional Center in Pacific, Mo. This is the latest ministry in a long list in which Leamon served the Kingdom of God. Over the last twelve years, Leamon has built a foundation for the prison ministry that hopefully will make it possible to continue the work.

"That the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."

(2 Tim. 3:17)

I can think of no finer example of a man of God than Leamon. The love of Jesus controls Leamon's life giving him a special approach to people and outlook to the world.

I have never heard Leamon say a negative word about anyone. He sees only good in people. This is a special figt that makes a success of every work Leamon undertakes. Whether serving as a pulpit minister or in the prison environment, Leamon's love for others shines through.

Jesus said, "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly." (John 10:10) Leamon has it abundantly, relying upon the promises of God and the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

May we be filled with the same strong faith. And may God give us comfort.
